The only drawback was the 6 month wait for the glass inserts, but they were worth the wait! The staff communication is great and they kept me updated on the progress of the inserts, Would highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

We had 2 interior custom transom windows made with Glass Design and we love the results! They are beautiful and the team is very professional and skilled. The only hard part was the wait to have them made and installed but it was worth it.+1Posted on Google![]()

THE GLASS DESIGN EXPERIENCE
We start with a free consultation. We walk you through fiberglass, iron, and aluminum impact doors, take measurements, and match glass, privacy, and hardware to your home.
We provide a custom drawing for your approval. Once it's approved, your impact door is ordered or built to your exact size and specifications.
Our in-house crew removes your old door, installs your new impact door, and walks you through the finished result before we leave.
Congratulations! Your home is now stronger, safer, and more beautiful. Thank you for choosing us, and please refer your friends and family.
Luxury At Your Door
FAQ's
We carry fiberglass, iron, stainless steel, aluminum, and wood entry doors, plus pivot doors, and pool/patio doors. Every exterior door we sell is hurricane impact rated. We also carry glass inserts for existing doors, decorative windows, and beautiful designer interior doors including fire rated doors. We have the largest selection of impact doors and glass in Southwest Florida, and you can see most of it in person at our showrooms.
Yes, in most cases. We can add a glass insert to any standard fiberglass or steel door. We take your door off the hinges, cut the opening, set the new glass, and rehang your newly transformed door. A lot of homeowners are surprised that a door they thought needed replacing looks brand new with a new insert and a fresh coat of paint.
Our team will tell you honestly. An insert is usually the smarter buy if your door is structurally sound. We’ll recommend a full replacement if your jambs are rotten or warped, the door doesn’t close properly, or the door is older than about 10+ years and doesn’t meet current hurricane or energy codes. We sell both, so we have no reason to push you one way.
Fiberglass is durable, low maintenance, and can be finished to look convincingly like real wood at a lower price. It’s a solid choice if you want something that holds up without much thought.
Iron is the door people stop and look at. There’s a weight to it when it opens, custom grilles drawn for your home, and a level of security fiberglass simply can’t match. It’s the piece that sets the tone for the whole entry, and it’s what most of our clients picture when they imagine the front of their home.
One honest note: iron asks for a little care in our salt air. Mild soap a few times a year and an occasional protective wax keeps rust away. It’s a light routine, not a project, and most homeowners find it a fair trade for a door they’ll love for decades. If you genuinely want “install it and forget it,” fiberglass is the better fit, and we’ll tell you that straight.
Most standard insert designs run between $1,000 and $3,000 per door, and most custom designs run between $2,000 and $6,000 per door. Standard means one of our 120+ existing designs. Custom means the glass is drawn and made specifically for your door.
What moves the number: the size of your door, how many doors you’re doing, standard design versus custom, and whether you add matching sidelights or a transom. Sidelights and transoms are priced as their own pieces of glass, so a full entryway with both will total more than the single door figure above.
For comparison, a full door replacement runs between $7,000 and $25,000. If you like your existing door and it’s structurally sound, an insert gets you the new look for a fraction of that.
One thing worth knowing up front: on an insert job, the glass itself is rated for impact, not the entire door unit. If you need the whole door rated, that’s a replacement, and we’ll tell you so rather than sell you an insert that doesn’t do what you need.
You’ll get a written price at your free consultation, once you’ve chosen your design and we’ve taken down the details of your entryway.
Most new impact entryways run between $7,000 and $25,000 installed. An entryway means the full opening: the door itself, plus any sidelights, replaced together as one system.
Material drives most of the difference.
Fiberglass sits at the lower end of that range and is the most common choice for homeowners who want impact protection and a clean look without going custom.
Aluminum runs higher, closer to iron, and usually lands a little under it.
Iron is the top of the range. Usually a single iron door will run between $8,000 and $15,000 and a most double doors will run between $15,000 and $28,000, with installation added on top.
From there, the number moves with the size of the opening, whether you’re adding sidelights or a transom, the glass you choose, the hardware, and whether you go with a custom color or finish.
We make inserts three ways.
Standard Collection. Over 120 designs, built to standard sizes. The glass and caming colors are set, so the design comes as you see it. These usually cost the least.
The Exclusive Collection. Our most popular custom designs, built so the colors and textures can be swapped. You choose the design you like, then choose the glass texture and caming finish that work with your home. It sits between the other two: more control over how it looks than a standard design, without the time and cost of starting from scratch.
Custom Collection. Anything you want. A standard design in a different size, a different privacy level, or a piece designed from the ground up for your entryway.
Most of our designs come with matching sidelights, so the door and the glass on either side read as one piece rather than three separate parts.
Transoms work a little differently. Transom windows are always made to order to fit your exact opening, since almost no two are the same size, so a matching transom adds cost and some lead time. It’s also where a lot of our best entryways come from. When the design carries up over the door, the whole opening reads as one designed piece instead of a door with a window above it, and that’s the look people stop and notice from the street. If your entry has a transom, it’s worth seeing what it would take.
Sidelights and transoms are each priced as their own piece of glass, so a full entry with both will total more than the door glass alone.
Your Design Consultant will confirm whether the design you like has matching sidelights, what a matching transom would take, and what it adds, so you can decide with the real number in front of you.
Yes. Usually within a couple of weeks after you sign, we send you a custom drawing to approve before anything goes into production.
Most insert installs take just 1–2 hours. A full door replacement usually takes 6–8 hours. We will remove and haul away your old door or glass, unless you would prefer to keep it.
Yes, if you’re replacing an exterior door. Florida requires a permit on any exterior door replacement, and the work has to pass inspection afterward.
We handle all of it. We pull the permit, file the paperwork, and schedule the inspection with your county. You don’t call anyone or fill anything out.
Two things to know so the timeline doesn’t surprise you. Permitting is part of your lead time, not something that happens after, so it’s already built into the dates we give you. And someone over 18 needs to be home on inspection day to let the inspector in. We’ll give you the window as soon as the county sets it.
If you live in a community with an HOA, that’s a separate approval from the permit, and it’s one you’ll need to start yourself. Tell your Design Consultant early if you’re in one. We can give you the product details and drawings your HOA will ask for.
